Sight Beyond Sight: Boston Pre-Release Tournament Report

Heya! As you all probably know, we had our pre-release event for
the Bloodlines expansion - Sight Beyond Sight: Boston - this past
Sunday at Danger Planet. A total of 27 people from all over New
England showed up for the occasion.

It was a draft tournament, where each player got 2 original V:TES
starters, and then booster drafted 4 Bloodlines boosters. Due to
time constraints, each round was only an hour and a half long.
We were also using the new Game Wins rule, as it was an unsanctioned
tournament and it seemed to be another good opportunity to try it
out. The last time we tried it was at High Stakes: Boston - a
Succubus Club style tournament.

I was very impressed with the amount of Bloodlines cards played.
Crypts seemed to typically contain more than half Bloodlines
vampires, and there was quite a variety of library cards played.
The one drawback to the format was that there wasn't a lot in the
way of stealth, so games took longer to progress. Compounding this
problem is the very fighty nature of Bloodlines, so combats took a
little bit longer than usual for a limited format tournament. With
only an hour and a half for each round, only 6 players actually
managed to score a Game Win, and nobody scored more than one.

Before I get to the final standings, I also awarded a Bloodlines
clan pin and two Bloodlines packs to those who meritoriously played
cards for a given clan. As voted by the players, the awards went to:

Claire Alexander - for burning 7 pool worth of weapons with her
Blood Brothers

Chris O'Brien - for sweeping a table using the Daughters of Cacophony

Kevin Mullen - for rampant use of Thanatosis cards with his Samedi

Scott Gomes - for game-altering use of Mytherceria cards

Sergio Massoda - for putting the hurt on peoples' decks with the
Harbingers of Skulls

Kate Souza - for meritorious service to the Salubri cause

Matt Hirsch - for his unparalleled work with the dark forces of
beyond by successfully bringing forth the Great Beast into this world
